Why podcasts

The year is 2022. We know your communication strategy has, in one way or another, gone digital as audience engagement migrated online during the pandemic. That also means that the visual attention of your audience is likely oversaturated, even as we struggle to return to a new normal.

Now is the time to think laterally and consider an underexploited sense—audio.

Podcasts enable you to target a group of medical professionals who are already highly engaged. As an ‘opt-in’ audience, everyone tuning in chose to receive it. In two surveys of emergency medicine residents across the US, almost 90% listen to podcast at least once a month1 and 70% endorsed podcasts as the most beneficial use of their time.2

Why compete on the same channels for more screen time when you can sidestep the competition for visual attention by occupying your audiences’ audio attention as part of their daily routine? It is this unparalleled on-demand convenience that attracts listeners as they can listen where they want and when they want.

Do you know 75% of medical professionals participate in other activities (such as driving, doing household chores or exercising) when listening to podcasts?3

Podcasts are uniquely positioned to deliver deeper dives into complex subjects while maintaining high levels of engagement. Both breadth and depth in content can be covered while showcasing a diverse set of voices and opinions on any topics.

Hearing someone speak is highly personal and holds great potential to build long-term trust. While publications deliver facts methodically, the voice of an expert confers reputability based on real-world experience that goes beyond clinical trials.
